    The Last Words of Steve Jobs

    Steve Jobs's biological sister, Mona Simpson, wrote a moving and highly personal eulogy for a private funeral service for the fallen tech titan that took place a few days after his death in early October.

    An acclaimed novelist, she delivered a beautifully written description of Steve Jobs's life, illness and death. She said his last words before he slipped into unconsciousness for the last time were, "Oh wow. Oh wow. Oh wow."

      Note to T. K. Laurence

      Edison was pure business and conservative, and like most very successful businessmen (like Jobs) he was not a very 'nice' person to be around.

      Edison's competion was a fellow who gets very little credit. His name was Nikola Tesla. He gave away most of what he invented. Tesla's legacy was the Westinghouse company.

      Tesla invented Alternating Current, fluorescent lighting, induction motor, 3 phase electricity and modern radio. A little more important than ipod, ipad, iphone combined.

      I'm not a fan of SJ but we didn't need to know that. His death throes should be between him and whomever he wanted there with him.

      He saw that even where he was going, he still had to get past Gates

      He could have been saying those words because his body was going thru changes and it felt very strange to feel yourself die. When you suffer like he did with the cancer and you slip away and know you are dying, the body feels all of the sensations. My Dad was dying and as he was, he knew it and was softly whispering "this feels odd" His body began to lightly shiver and then he was gone. I can only fathom that feeling himself die was rather disturbing in some way.

      enough! he wasn't God. He was a man with certain gifts. we are bowing down to the idol we have made of this man. what's next channel his spirit and see what he has to say now?
      let him rest in peace.

      This is a misprint. The NYT said his last words were," Ow -- Ow -- OW....!"

      All That I Owe the Fellows of the Grave

      All that I owe the fellows of the grave
      And all the dead bequeathed from pale estates
      Lies in the fortuned bone, the flask of blood,
      Like senna stirs along the ravaged roots.
      O all I owe is all the flesh inherits,
      My fathers' loves that pull upon my nerves,
      My sisters tears that sing upon my head
      My brothers' blood that salts my open wounds

      Heir to the scalding veins that hold love's drop,
      My fallen filled, that had the hint of death,
      Heir to the telling senses that alone
      Acquaint the flesh with a remembered itch,
      I round this heritage as rounds the sun
      His winy sky, and , as the candles moon,
      Cast light upon my weather. I am heir
      To women who have twisted their last smile,
      To children who were suckled on a plague,
      To young adorers dying on a kiss.
      All such disease I doctor in my blood,
      And all such love's a shrub sown in the breath.

      Then look, my eyes, upon this bonehead fortune
      And browse upon the postures of the dead;
      All night and day I eye the ragged globe
      Through periscopes rightsighted from the grave;
      All night and day I wander in these same
      Wax clothes that wax upon the ageing ribs;
      All night my fortune slumbers in its sheet.
      Then look, my heart, upon the scarlet trove,
      And look, my grain, upon the falling wheat;
      All night my fortune slumbers in its sheet.

      Lots of glib comments here. As a former oncology and current hospice nurse I can say, death can often a very profound moment . I have been witness to many beautiful and amazing things. "Oh wow!"& even a smile is common amongst the type who are able to embrace the mystery and wonder of life we 'well & alive' folks too often take for granted. Its so true- none of us DO get out of here alive, and almost all of us are "not very nice" at times. Still, who and what are we in actuality? That is what we may be graced to 'see' as Death comes calling. Seems like Jobs 'saw'. What a wonderful culmination of that life. (Reporter: why the "biological" sister comment??)

      If he could speak now, I am guessing it would be... "I am dead... Isn't there something more important to talk about then me? I am frieken dead!"

      Gives me hope that my grandson that died is going to come get me when I die.
