The latest untethered jailbreak is already compatible with iOS 7.1.2
Just over an hour after Apple seeded iOS 7.1.2 to the public, 9to5Mac confirmed that the Pangu untethered jailbreak originally released for iOS 7.1.1 still works on iOS devices. The jailbreak was released after Apple had already begun seeding the 7.1.1 update to carriers, so the chance that the company would have been able to combat a jailbreak in the interim was unlikely anyway.
More good news, jailbreakers: the development team behind Pangu updated the jailbreak to version 1.1 over the weekend, bringing native OS X support and an English interface to the app, which was previously only available on Windows in Chinese. The update should also patch a few bugs that users had been reporting since the first version of the app released earlier in the month.
The Pangu 1.1 update has also unbundled third-party software from the jailbreak, leaving English-language users with nothing but a fresh copy of Cydia on their newly jailbroken iOS devices.
If you want to download the latest version of Pangu (even if you’ve already updated to iOS 7.1.2) head over to the Pangu website and choose your platform. It’s not often that Apple misses an opportunity to patch a jailbreak between releases, so be sure to jump on Pangu before iOS 7.1.3 sneaks out as an over-the-air download in the coming weeks.
