    LaunchPoint Energy & Power introduces ISO26262 compliant Battery Management Systems

    Larry Yount, former Senior Technical Fellow and Chief Engineer at Honeywell and industry leader in critical systems technology has partnered with Dr. Brad Paden, Professor at UC Santa Barbara and CEO of LaunchPoint Technologies to found LaunchPoint Energy and Power, LLC, (LEAP) focused on Battery Management System (BMS) design for lithium-ion batteries. LEAP provides high-performance BMS designs for lithium battery packs that improve safety, reliability, and optimize life-cycle cost. The ISO26262 compliant battery management system is currently designed for use in automotive, aerospace and fixed energy applications. Prior to joining LEAP, Mr. Yount worked with GM in the development of the Chevy Volt battery management system. LEAP is currently involved in a development support relationship with Johnson Controls Inc. for their lithium battery automotive program, and advises the US Government in developing aerospace Li-ion battery management systems for satellite applications.
