SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) — The family of a teen who hanged herself after being sexually assaulted and then shamed by a humiliating photo of her body circulating around school is suing the three teen suspects in custody, claiming the boys removed her shorts and attacked her while she was unconscious.

A lawsuit filed Monday by the family of Audrie Pott, who died last fall a week after the assault, says the suspects "digitally penetrated her, and/or penetrated her with a foreign object, and/or sexually abused her" after she drank alcohol and passed out.

The lawsuit also says she spent two days on life support after she hanged herself.

Audrie was assaulted at a friend's house party. The friend had told her parents, who were out of town, that she was staying at Audrie's.
