Layout from Instagram review

Layout from Instagram enables you to create unique, highly customizable photo collages.

Pros

Useful demo: Layout's demo is an informative introduction to using the app.

Easy process: On the main screen, you'll see your photos categorized by All, Faces, and Recents. You can also use the built-in Photo Booth camera to take new photos. Click on a photo (up to nine), and the app will plug them into the 10 available collage types, enabling you to see them all at a glance -- you don't have to click each collage style to see how your photos will be arranged.

Highly customizable: Slide collage photos up or down to change their width or position or to move them around within their frames. To swap a photo, click Replace. Click Mirror to change the photo to its mirror image, and tap Flip to flip the image. You can also pinch to zoom, hold and drag to swap, and save photos to your Camera Roll.

Intuitive process: There is nothing in the way of you and your masterpiece. The necessary tools are always at hand onscreen, and you can complete many functions with easy gestures.

Easy sharing: Click Instagram or Facebook in the app to share your collage, or hit More to share over text, email, Pinterest, Tumblr, Gmail, Facebook Messenger, LinkedIn, Viber, or iCloud.

No Instagram required: Although Instagram developed Layout, the popular photo filtering and sharing app is not required to use Layout.

Cons

No extras: You can't add borders, effects, filters, colors, patterns, or a background to your creation within the app. You can, however, add filters via Instagram when sharing.

Bottom Line

With its intuitive image processing and unique customizations, Layout from Instagram may be the only collaging app you'll ever need.
