Leafs' Ashton suspended two games

Toronto Maple Leafs forward Carter Ashton was suspended for two games, without pay, for boarding Calgary Flames forward Derek Smith during Wednesday's game, the NHL announced on Friday.

The incident occurred in the second period, and Ashton was assessed a minor penalty

for boarding on the play.

Ashton has one assist and no goals in 10 games this season.

Under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement and, based on his average annual salary, Ashton will forfeit $8,615.38.
