Leak reveals sleek unreleased Microsoft smartphone

In terms of launches, Microsoft has been relatively quiet since taking over Nokia’s devices and services business. In fact, the company’s only launch to speak of was the Nokia X2, an Android-powered device that will never see the light of day in the United States. Rumors continue to swirl that suggest Microsoft has several Lumia smartphones in the works though, and it looks like one of them has broken cover for the first time.

Chinese-language WPDang has uncovered a series of photos on Weibo, China’s microblogging service that is similar to Twitter. Little is known about the mysterious Windows Phone device, and the site suggests that it may launch as the Lumia 830.

From the photos, we can see that the phone has a boxy but sleek design, and the display stretches nearly to the edges of the phone’s face on each side. It also looks like the handset’s housing might include both aluminum and plastic, similar to the Lumia 925. Finally, we can obviously expect the phone to run Microsoft’s latest Windows Phone 8.1 operating system when it debuts.

No release time frame is known at the moment.
