Leaked Galaxy S II Ice Cream Sandwich ROM demoed on video
Samsung has already announced the impending release of their Ice Cream Sandwich update for the Galaxy S II, but outside of the approximate “early 2012″ release date, it’s unclear when exactly it’ll arrive.
If you simply can’t wait for Android 4.0 to officially make its way on to your phone, and you’re confident enough to change its software, then SamMobile.com has a pair of leaked ROMS especially for you.
They’re designed for the i9100 Galaxy S II smartphone and feature either Android 4.0.1 or Android 4.0.3. They’re listed as “alpha” versions, and according to testers it’s the 4.0.3 build that’s the more stable of the two. This isn’t that surprising, given that Google has said 4.0.3 will include a variety of bug fixes and performance improvements.
While there are instructions on how to flash the ROM on to your Galaxy S II, it’s still a risky process if you don’t know what you’re doing. So if you’re a little unsure, but still want to see ICS working on Samsung’s flagship phone, take a look at the video below.
It shows buttery-smooth Android 4.0.1 in action, complete with Samsung’s own TouchWiz UI over the top, and provides a brief glimpse of several of Ice Cream Sandwich’s new features and design tweaks. One thing, if your ears are easily offended, we’d suggest reaching for the volume control before watching it.
Android 4.0 looks almost release-ready in the video, so perhaps “early 2012″ really will mean early.
