LeapFrog Enterprises names Mitchell as a director

EMERYVILLE, Calif. (AP) — Educational toy maker LeapFrog Enterprises Inc. has named Theodore R. Mitchell as a board member.

Mitchell is president and CEO of nonprofit venture philanthropy firm NewSchools Venture Fund. He also served as president of the California State Board of Education from 2008 through 2010. Mitchell has held several positions at various educational institutions, including serving as president of Occidental College.

Last month LeapFrog reported that its first-quarter loss narrowed, while its revenue soared 82 percent. The company also lifted its full-year earnings and revenue outlooks.

Shares of the Emeryville, Calif. company added 23 cents, or 2.3 percent, to $10.34 in afternoon trading. The stock has traded between $2.57 and $10.95 over the past year.
