Less wind and higher rain chances through the weekend
The winds are staying lighter this morning, and skies are partly cloudy in northern New Mexico, while its sunny in southern New Mexico. There is a chance for a few sprinkles in the northeast highlands this morning, and a better chance for rain in the northern mountains this afternoon and evening. Light snow accumulation will be possible in the high peaks through tonight. The Metro will see sunshine until this afternoon, and then clouds will increase through the evening. Temperatures will be a bit warmer than Wednesday, and the winds will stay lighter, at about 15 to 35 mph across the state.

Friday morning will be windy in the middle Rio Grande Valley. A high wind watch will be in effect this evening through Friday morning at 10 AM. 60 mph wind gusts will be possible as a cold front squeezes through the Tijeras Canyon. The winds will subside during the day, and temperatures will stay cooler. A few showers will be possible in the northern mountains, with virga/sprinkles in central NM on Friday afternoon.
