Leverkusen, Socceroos blow as Kruse suffers World Cup-ending injury

Robbie Kruse will miss the remainder of the Bundesliga season with Bayer Leverkusen after suffering a serious knee injury in training.

The 25-year old winger tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee on Friday with an MRI scan on Saturday confirming the extent of the problem.

The former Brisbane Roar and Melbourne Victory ace will undergo surgery this week and will be sidelined for the remainder of the 2013/14 season. Kruse is also in danger of missing out on the 2014 World Cup which kicks off in Brazil in June this year.
