LG Teases G Watch: Always-on, Water Resistant

LG is now showing off its upcoming Android Wear smartwatch, called the G Watch, via a teaser site. The square-faced watch itself will come in gold or black, and will feature a water- and dust -esistant frame. On the site, you can click and drag an image of the watch in a full 360-degree view to get a look from every angle.

Users will be able to access Google Now alerts for directions, weather conditions and calendar reminders. The G Watch will be Google Voice activated, much like Google Glass. Unlike Samsung's Gear watches, the screen will never go to sleep, meaning your watch will always display the time--just like it should be.

While exact dimensions are missing from the documentation, the screen is likely to be 280 x 280, based on previous Android Wear specifications from the SDK. The company has made no claims about battery endurance. We prefer the look of the Moto 360's circular display, but LG's design does look fairly sleek.

Sadly, there's no word on availability or pricing as of yet. But it looks as though the G Watch will be the first device commercially available to be powered by Google's Android Wear software. In addition to Motorola, Asus, HTC and Samsung are also making Android Wear devices.
