Well, this is awkward. Actor, Liev Schreiber talks about split from Naomi Watts for the first time and it’s a bit uncomfortable for everyone involved.
The Ray Donovan actor did an interview with CBS This Morning on Thursday and when the topic of his breakup with Watts, who has been his partner for 11 years came up, things got weird fast.
In fact, Schreiber seemed very uncomfortable when he was asked pretty directly about Watts, for the first time since they announced their split two months ago. The 49-year-old actor initially mentioned his ex while talking about working with her on The Bleeder, which is a boxer-based film, and then the can of worms was open.
“Are you and Naomi in a good place?” CBS This Morning co-host Gayle King asked him.
“I have to say, I was very disappointed when I heard the two of you had separated,” she continued. “You two seem to have navigated raising your children together. Is change scary for you?”
Schreiber and Watts have two sons together, Alexander, 9, and Samuel, 7, and although the line of questioning was bizarre, the actor responded the best he could.
“Yeah. Of course it is,” he replied. “But, you know, we’re parents together so we’ll be together for the rest of our lives no matter what and, um, we’re very close.”
“Hopefully, that never changes and I don’t think it will,” he concluded.
King then joked with The 5th Wave actor saying, “Would you like me to set you up with someone or are you okay?”
“Yeah. I’m busy with the 15-year-old,” Schreiber joked, referring to Cécile Volanges, who his character seduces in the Broadway revival of Les Liaisons Dangereuses.
Awk-ward! At least the initial conversation post-breakup is out of the way, awkward or not.
