Pecos cleanup is Saturday

Apr. 19—A community event in the Pecos area, dubbed the Earth Day River and Road Cleanup, will be held Saturday from 9:30 a.m.-noon.

According to a news release, the gathering point will be at Oour Lady of Guadalupe Abbey, located at 16 Guadalupe Lane in Pecos. The cleanup will follow a drive-by format, offering a way for volunteers to contribute to the effort.

The Upper Pecos Watershed Association, Pecos Business Association, Pecos Canyon State Park, Santa Fe National Forest, Truchas Chapter Trout Unlimited, San Miguel County and New Mexico Wilderness Alliance are leading the event. This partnership, organizers said, highlights the importance of community involvement in environmental conservation of the Pecos Watershed.

Organizers said the cleanup is an opportunity for individuals to make a tangible impact on the environment and foster a healthier, cleaner future for the community. For information, contact Magda Matecka at 505-757-3600 or via email at upwa@pecoswatershed.org.
