Lil Wayne swears that he didn’t step all over the American flag on purpose.

After video surfaced Monday of the rapper walking back and forth on the flag while filming a music video for his single “God Bless Amerika,” he tweeted early Tuesday that it was not intentional.

He tweeted: “I didn’t step on the flag on purpose! It’s a scene in a video where the flag drops behind me and after it drop it’s just there as I perform.”

In the video, the flag drops to the ground behind him. Despite his claims that he did not walk on the flag on purpose, he can be seen looking down at the ground as he picks up his feet and places them back down on the flag.
