Liquid Death giving away real jet as part of new contest

Liquid Death, the canned water brand known for its chaotic marketing and morbid play-on-word product names, is giving away a real jet as part of its latest campaign.

The company said it was inspired by a similar stunt in the 1990s, in which an unnamed soda maker jokingly advertised a fighter jet as a possible prize in one of its promotional contests.

That saga was chronicled in the Netflix documentary series, “Pepsi, Where’s My Jet?” The subject of that story tried to sue Pepsi to force the company to follow through with the promotion and actually award him a Harrier jet — he lost.

But Liquid Death insists this promotion is legitimate and the winner can, in fact, come away with a real jet. The company will even pay for six months of hangar space.

The “Dehydrator” is an Aero L-39 with a top speed of 470 mph and nearly 4,000 foot-pounds of thrust. The power of the machine is capable of making pilots and copilots spill their guts and relieve them of their body fluids — which is why the winner will also get a one-year supply of Liquid Death products.

Winners will also get a custom jet pilot helmet and a cup holder will be installed to help safely secure a beverage while pullings Gs.

To enter the contest, you’ll need to buy a can of Liquid Death and upload your receipt or proof of purchase online or via text. Each can counts as one entry, so if you buy an eight-pack, you’ll receive eight entries into the contest.

Products will need to be purchased at a brick-and-mortar location and there’s a limit of 400 entries, the company says.

Interested adrenaline junkies 18 and older have until Sept. 4 to enter.

“Some companies joke about giving away jets. We don’t. We’ll notify you if you’ve won. Once we’ve confirmed you qualify, we’ll work with you to figure out how you’d like to pick up your jet,” the company writes on its contest page.

The jet will be made available for pickup from a designated hangar within two to nine months of the date that the winner makes their choice official. The company will then confirm that the winner meets all eligibility requirements.

Live in an apartment without a garage or already have too many jets in your collection? There’s an alternative grand prize of $250,000 awarded to you in a briefcase.

If you choose that option, you’ll get to keep the one-year supply of Liquid Death products, as well as the jet pilot helmet.
