It's all #$%$ Harry Potter got art direction and visual effects? Really? What about Alan Rickman as Severus Snape. There wasn't a dry eye in the theatre all 3 times I went to see it.

I have to agree. It seems that the Harry Potter movies over the year have not gotten the awards that we all know they deserve.
      • John 4 mths ago
None of the cast members from "Harry Potter" were nominated this year. Alan Rickmen would have required nomination in the catagory of "Supporting Actor". The movie nominations given Harry Potter this year, were for the outstanding digital creation of the entire "Hogwarts" that was destroyed.

        I can't believe this either!

Alan Rickman deserves an Oscar nomination for almost every movie he's been in, in my opinion. Especially for his Deathly Hallows Part II performance. I consider this a humongous Oscar snub... =(

WTH!!!...REALLY??!!!...No nomination for Alan Rickman for his 10 years of Severus Snape Portrayal???!!!
    • MizLindsay  •  4 mths ago
      These nominations totally stink.

War Horse...the horses, both were excellent!

Can't believe Harry Potter was snubbed. We wil be watching HP movies long after the nominated films are forgotten. Alan Rickman, you were robbed!

i thought The Tree Of Life was on stupid movie. Who would want to sit through all that horrible opra singing and stupid pictures and then have a whole movie where 90% of the dialogue is whispered. HORRIBLE MOVIE.

It's soooooo overrated. Hollywood has reached it's all time low.

Can't wait to see who'd win between Meryl & Glen
      • CalGal 4 mths ago
Love them both, but rooting for Viola. Really wanted Glen to win for "Fatal Attraction", but I think her character scared some people.
      • Lolita 4 mths ago
Glen would be the choice between the two of them. Otherwise, Michelle Williams and/or Rooney Mara.

Please tell me again why the Horse Joey was not nominated fo best actor? The wire scene alone should have nailed it.
      • david 4 mths ago
You talkin' bout Sarah Jessica Parker?
      • Rudi 4 mths ago
The horse came in seventh after the dog from "The Artist". Parker will appear in the big-screen biopic about Mr. Ed.

It's odd that neither Madonna nor Elton John were nominated for Best Song, though both were nominated for Golden Globes & Madonna even won. Despite this, why only 3 nominations, or is this a typo? I think Max von Sydow should get an Oscar, at last. Frankly I've always thought his performances were over-the-top and rather mannered, but I'd like to see him win for his long and illustrious career.
      • Ozzie_n_Harriet 4 mths ago
Acutally, it looks like there were only two original song nominations. Does seem a little light.
      • DisneyFan16672 4 mths ago
Only two "Best Song" Academy Award nominations? Why couldn't "Life's A Happy Song" be nominated from "The Muppets" as well as that was quite possibly the most catchy song from the film? My best guess is that it would have been too difficult to choreograph if they decided to perform it live, whereas with "Man or Muppet" all they'd need is Jason Segel, Walter, and a piano.

      Okay everyone.
Which dead celebrity will be left out of the memorium that the Oscars show each year?
      Happens all the time.

Wow, "The Tree of Life" , it was terrible.
    • Yellowhammer  •  4 mths ago
      Nuts.

And the Oscar goes to... Ten Freakin Bucks For Popcorn!

Mostly same people, same director, most movies I wouldn't pay to watch. What ever happened to movies being celebrated for mass enjoyment. The Academy is out of touch with what everyday people watch and want. For example it's harder to make people laugh than cry so where are the comedies. I love Melissa McCarthy and THE HELP but I doubt they'll win anything because they're funny and people actually watched them. I though "Bridesmaids" was the funniest movie but the awards shows didn't like it. I thought it was the best movie of the year for ME.

What?! #$%$ 'n' Boots got robbed! And so did HP, and Breaking Dawn. Whoever's running Hollywood, better have a good explaination for these flaws. Nobody appreciates art, childhood fairytales, or modern fantasy literature. I am one who enjoys these things, paid hard earned money to see them, and yet, dumb people snubs them. They also do not grasp the word 'fun' anymore either. In the golden age of movie making, there were no bad films. A rarity to see a film with two stars, but now it is the average rating.

Thanks for the list. I will read about the winners the day after.

      A Separation

Harry Potter was shortchanged because it caters to the demographic of people who like to read books.
