HTC (2498) finds itself in quite a predicament right now. As has been the case with HTC products for years, the vendor’s 2012 smartphone lineup was absolutely gorgeous. But as the iPhone and Galaxy smartphones continued to gain steam, Apple (AAPL) and Samsung’s (005930) huge marketing budgets and extensive carrier support left HTC scrambling. Unless the small Taiwan-based company shows us some very special smartphones this year, its decline will likely continue… and whatever HTC unveils on Tuesday will set the tone for what will either be an amazing comeback or saddening slide in 2013. HTC’s “M7” — or “HTC One,” as the phone will reportedly be called at launch — will almost certainly be on tap, and BGR will be reporting live from the press conference to bring you all the news as it breaks.
