    As utility crews worked throughout Wednesday repairing the damage caused by high winds and rain, they were already gearing up to respond to the next potential stage of bad weather.   • Officials Urge Care While Driving During Winter Season

  • JHS Madrigal Singers To Join Kenny Rogers On Stage

    The Jamestown High School Madrigal Singers will perform more than 20 times during the month of December. One of those concerts will be in front of a much larger crowd than the others, however. The group has been preparing for a month to join Kenny Rogers on stage Friday at the Jamestown Savings Bank Ice Arena. Major stock indexes fell about a percent, including the Dow Jones industrial average, which lost 100 points.   • JPD Releases Accident Victims' Names & Narrative

    The Jamestown Police Department released the names of the two men involved in the accident on Washington Street Monday morning. According to the JPD, 48-year-old Michael E.     A Lakewood man is in serious but stable condition at the Hamot Medical Center in Erie, Pa., after a two-vehicle collision in downtown Jamestown on Monday morning. Due to the severity of the accident, limited information is being released by the Jamestown Police Department, which along with the Chautauqua County Accident Reconstruction Team, is investigating the inciden. ''Normally'' is the operative word - Gov. David Paterson has threatened to withhold Dec. 15 AIM payments to municipalities across the state.   • Salvation Army Struggling To Find Bell Ringers For Red Kettle Campaign

    With Christmas less than three weeks away, Major Richard Best of The Salvation Army in Jamestown in concerned that since there aren't enough volunteers to man the red kettles, the Salvation Army's Red Kettle Drive goal may not be reached.     MAYVILLE - Chautauqua County at one time had 30 different police agencies. Today, Undersheriff Charles Holder counts nine - with the Sheriff's Office making up the difference in coverage. On Monday, the Public Safety Committee will review several contracts for enhanced police services. Each year, municipalities contract with the county for additional road patrols and deputies.
