City of Washington park employee John Ramsey hangs a wreath in Central Park in downtown Washington after removing the basket containing plants that had hung in the same spot. Update: Since the Newspapers of Fayette County went to print, we have since learned that Anthony Postel, 21 of St. Lucas, who was previously at-large, was taken into custody by the Fayette County Sheriff's Office on Monday, Nov. 9. He is being held on a $25,000 bond. Full Story »

WEST UNION – The Fayette County Board of Supervisors Monday heard preliminary estimates on repairing the waste lagoon at Prairie View. The Washington County Board of Supervisors at the Monday Nov. 2 meeting approved a $31,314 payment from the Iowa Department of Transportation for the Highway 78 detour, which utilized county roads for 23 months from October 2007 to September 2009. The state replaced a bridge on Highway 78 near Coppock and utilized County Roads W47 and W55 as a detour route. Full Story »
