  • County receives state payment for detour use

    The Washington County Board of Supervisors at the Monday Nov. 2 meeting approved a $31,314 payment from the Iowa Department of Transportation for the Highway 78 detour, which utilized county roads for 23 months from October 2007 to September 2009. The state replaced a bridge on Highway 78 near Coppock and utilized County Roads W47 and W55 as a detour route. Full Story »

  • Council approves water extension to Golden Delight Bakery

    The Kalona City Council at the Monday November 2 meeting approved providing water service to the Golden Delight Bakery located on the Johnson-Washington County Line near Nutmeg Ave. The bakery owners, Nathan and Eunice Miller, will pay for the installation of the 2" PVC line, water meters, check valve and flush hydrant.   • Project will address storm waters

    These rubber duckies were released by an unknown person Thursday, Oct.. 29, after rains backed up downtown storm sewer drains. Part of a planned $2.8 million revitalization project will install new storm sewer lines to address the perennial flooding. Full Story »
