    The Visalia Unified School District is preparing for some major budget cuts. Thanks to a state reduction of $10 million to the school district’s general fund. The district is being forced to compensate. On July 1st of 2010 the board will reduce the budget by $5.5 million. Another $4.5 million will be cut the following year. Full Story »

    Central Valley citrus growers escaped serious freeze damage Monday night, but are bracing for more cold. Temperatures dropped to about 28 degrees early Monday night, but didn’t stay below that for long.   • Plane Crashes at Fresno Airport

    A small plane crashed at the Fresno Airport this afternoon. Airport officials say the student pilot had head and facial injuries. He was taken to the hospital in serious condition. The pilot had just taken off when he told the tower he needed to return to the airport. The incident happened on the west side of the airport. Full Story »

  • CUSD Cheer Squad Heading to Holiday Bowl

  • Two Arrested in Homicide Investigation

    Two people have been arrested for yesterday's shooting in Fresno that left a delivery man dead. It happened at Palm & Belmont in Central Fresno at roughly 6 a.m. Monday morning.   • Valley Beef Company Issues Recall

    For the second time this year, a Valley beef company has issued a recall. Beef Packer Incorporated, out of Fresno, is recalling 22,000 more pounds of ground beef products because the meat is contaminated with a drug resistant strain of Salmonella.     The verdict is in for Cantrell Ellis. Jurors found Ellis guilty of second degree murder, burglary and assault. It took jurors one day to come up with the verdict.   • Thieves Target Christmas Tree Lane

  • Highway 180 Expansion Opens

    The Highway 180 expansion is now complete. The $50 million project extends Highway 180 east to Temperance Avenue in Clovis. There are also new interchanges at both Fowler and Temperance.
