    More than 600 people got seasonal flu vaccinations on Oct. 28 in Selma. However, 50 to 100 were turned away when the county-run clinic ran out of the shots that older people must take, officials said. Demand for vaccine at county clinics has doubled this year, officials added. They said part of the reason is people are worried about another flu, the H1N1 virus, previously called the swine flu.   • Selma prepares for disaster

The city has plans in place for disaster management for an unforeseen cataclysm. The Selma City Council also recently passed a "mitigation strategy," a long-term list of goals relating to hazards.     Selma Unified will spend about $2.7 million in federal stimulus money over the next two years to boost special education, teacher training and students scoring low on standardized tests.
