    Selma's sales tax revenue is significantly lower than budgeted estimates, which has resulted in a much lower ending balance for the end of the year.   • Medical marijuana ordinance extended

    Medicinal marijuana won't be sold anytime soon in Selma after the City Council extended an urgency ordinance prohibiting all uses relating to medical marijuana. The council initially voted on an emergency ordinance Oct. 5 to ban all medical marijuana businesses and use. Prior to the expiration of the 45 days, there had to be a public hearing.   • City applies for grant for park

    The city of Selma is applying for a $5 million grant to buy land and build a new park west of the city. The city is applying through the Proposition 84 Statewide Park Program. The grant will not cost the city any money to buy the land and build the park. However, the city will incur general maintenance costs after the park is built.
