  • Alexandria parad to feature several new businesses

  • Firefighters to try new transport service

    ANDERSON — In an effort to bring in additional revenue to the city’s ailing general fund, the Anderson Fire Department will try a new transport service that could prove profitable. AFD Deputy Chief Dave Cravens said the department would start in January transporting patients from Anderson care facilities to those in Indianapolis, a service usually offered only by private ambulance companies.   • House fire victims hopeful

    PENDLETON — Tina Lowe lost the left side of her house Monday, but thanks to the persistence of her neighbor, her son was not lost in the blaze that claimed three Summerlake homes, including her own.     A state panel on Thursday extended the license suspension of Middletown doctor who investigators said wrote prescriptions that caused or contributed to the deaths of at least nine people. Neither Dr. Phillip Foley nor attorneys on his behalf appeared before the Indiana Medical Licensing Board on Thursday. The board voted 6-0 to add 90 days to the suspension of Foley’s license.   • Hearing could extend Dr. Foley’s suspension

    MIDDLETOWN — The Indiana Attorney General is expected to seek a longer suspension today for a Middletown doctor who prescribed medication that contributed to the deaths of patients. A hearing is set for 2:30 p.m. today by the Indiana Medical Licensing Board in Indianapolis. The board on Oct. 22 issued an emergency 90-day suspension of Dr. Phillip D. Foley’s license.     ANDERSON — A month ago, Urban League program director Jeffrey Cottrell was given funds for 20 boys to play basketball in the Fieldhouse league.
