  • Board approves rezoning

    The Maury County School Board approved a massive rezoning plan by a paper-thin margin Thursday. The board voted 6-5 in favor of the plan, which includes a controversial provision that would move about 500 fifth-graders from elementary schools to middle schools.   • Woman charged with animal cruelty

    A 25-year-old woman faces 12 counts of animal cruelty after authorities found malnourished dogs and two dog carcasses at her Spring Hill home. Andrea Hatcher, 25, 5016 Flat Creek Road, Spring Hill, was issued 12 state citations for animal cruelty — a misdemeanor offense. Full Story »

    A Maury County Sheriff’s Department drug dog named Thumper has been missing for two weeks. Maury County Sheriff Enoch George said the dog was frequently allowed to run loose on his handler’s farm in the northwest corner of the county near the Hickman County line.
