For the second day in a row a car crash has claimed a life. It happened around 2:15am Wednesday on northbound Route 3 in Granite City. A woman believed to be about 30 years old apparently lost control of her Nissan Pathfinder and hit the center guardrail which launched her and her vehicle in the air and struck the bottom of the Interstate 270 overpass. A tractor trailer fire on I-64 near Rt. 4 in St. Clair County, IL left I-64 closed for hours Friday evening. The truck caught fire on the interstate closing the westbound lanes. There were no injuries in the crash. The Illinois State Police is investigating. Full Story »

Police have a suspect under arrest who is accused of gunning down 3 women inside a car parked at an East St. Louis gas pump on Saturday night. Police say the suspect was taken into custody in St. Louis City. They are not identifying him until charges are filed but say he knew the victims. Fallen Sergeant Christopher Cooper returned home Monday morning The soldier received full honors when his body was brought to Lambert Airport. Cooper was serving in Babil Province Iraq when he was killed. He first joined the Marine Corps in 2000.
