Cahokia police said one of their officers was lucky to be alive after the suspect pulled the trigger at point-blank range.   • Consumer Watch Group Retracts Warning On Zhu Zhu Pets

    Parents who have a Zhu Zhu Pet tucked under the Christmas tree can breathe a sigh of relief. Over the weekend, a consumer watch group said it found high levels of a heavy metal called antimony in one of the Zhu Zhu Pets, Mr. Squiggles.   • Jefferson County To Regulate Sale Of Pseudoephedrine Products

    More meth labs are busted in Jefferson County than anywhere else in the country. On Monday night, leaders there passed an ordinance aimed at helping law enforcement deal with the meth problem. The council voted unanimously to require a prescription for people to buy products with pseudoephedrine in them, like cold medicines. Pseudoephedrine is a major ingredient in making meth.   • St. Louis Runner Collapses, Dies After Running Memphis-Area Marathon

    A runner from St. Louis collapsed and died Saturday after competing in the St Jude Marathon. Memphis police identify the runner as Molly Trauernicht, 32, from St. Louis.
