A Fenton man gives his heart to a female inmate he met on-line only to possibly get taken by her. Authorities now consider her the prime suspect in a theft from the man's home. 38-year old convict, Dana Lewis, met the man, through the website, Writeaprisoner.com, while she was in a Michigan prison for larceny, aka felony stealing from a person. A Metro East man is being questioned after firefighters are called to his house in the 4200 block of baker in Centreville. Police report four children, ages two to seven, were home alone when the fire started. One of them is hospitalized for smoke inhalation. Sunday, St. Clair County police received a 911 call of a "rape in progress" in Lebanon, IL. Deputies from the St. Clair County Sheriff's Department found 39-year-old Wendy Rodgers detained in the caller's son's bedroom. A well known figure at Fort Zumwalt West High School in O'Fallon is facing nearly a dozen felony charges. Four eastern Missouri men were to be sentenced for federal crimes involving dogfighting that authorities cracked down on in July. The stepson of a police officer killed in the line of duty is now accused of trying to kill an officer himself. Cahokia police said one of their officers was lucky to be alive after the suspect pulled the trigger at point-blank range. Parents who have a Zhu Zhu Pet tucked under the Christmas tree can breathe a sigh of relief. Over the weekend, a consumer watch group said it found high levels of a heavy metal called antimony in one of the Zhu Zhu Pets, Mr. Squiggles. More meth labs are busted in Jefferson County than anywhere else in the country. On Monday night, leaders there passed an ordinance aimed at helping law enforcement deal with the meth problem. The council voted unanimously to require a prescription for people to buy products with pseudoephedrine in them, like cold medicines. Pseudoephedrine is a major ingredient in making meth. Motorists are adjusting to the new interchanges on Interstate 64 on the first day of the reopening. There are several locations along the re-constructed highway where morning commute drivers saw some slowdowns due to confusion. A runner from St. Louis collapsed and died Saturday after competing in the St Jude Marathon. Memphis police identify the runner as Molly Trauernicht, 32, from St. Louis. Race officials say medical staff immediately treated Trauernicht and she was taken to Methodist University Hospital where she was pronounced dead. Full Story »
