Eight child deaths have led to the second largest recall in U.S. history Tuesday, as more than fifty million Roman shades and roll up blinds were recalled. Experts say the blinds can strangle children, and Robert and Susan Urpsprung are familar with the danger. The federal government issued a preliminary ruling Tuesday to allow the recognition of the Shinnecock Indian Nation as a federally-recognized tribe, meaning gambling could soon be coming to Long Island. Evangelist Oral Roberts, who rose from tent revivals to found a multimillion-dollar organization and an Oklahoma university bearing his name, has died. He was 91. His spokesman A. Four days after a New Jersey jury couldn't decide whether a trucker from California knew about marijuana stashed in his rig, the man has pleaded guilty to conspiring to sell the drugs. The New York Jets have signed running back Chauncey Washington, a teammate of quarterback Mark Sanchez at Southern California. New York City is studying its air quality and the first findings show the highest levels of pollution in neighborhoods with more traffic. Mayor Michael Bloomberg's administration is collecting air samples at 150 locations throughout the city. Health officials are recalling hundreds of thousands of doses of swine flu vaccine after tests indicated they may not be potent enough to protect against the virus. The Newburgh City Police Department is searching for missing 4-year-old Mark A. Bookal. The little boy was last seen at home by a caretaker around 1 p.m. on Monday, but a short time later the front door of the home was found open and the child has not been seen since.
