Local teen drowns at Myrtle Beach
Jul. 23—ARCHDALE — A 15-year-old boy from Archdale and student at Trinity High School drowned in a hotel swimming pool earlier this month in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
Duong Ma left his family's room at the Sea Mist Oceanfront hotel on S. Ocean Boulevard about 6 p.m. July 10 to go swimming. When he didn't return by 9:30 p.m., his family went to look for him and called the Myrtle Beach Police Department, but they were not able to find him.
About 11 a.m. the next day, a guest who was swimming found Ma's body at the bottom of the deep end of the pool, Horry County Coroner Robert Edge told The High Point Enterprise.
The drowning is being investigated as an accidental death, Edge said.
