CAIRO — Donald Zee, attorney for Charles Maggio’s proposed $50 million mixed use project of housing and retail has sent two letters to the Cairo Town Board suggesting that Councilwoman Janet Schwarzenegger recuse herself on Alden Terrace matters.

Taxpayers in the Catskill Central School District will pool their tax bills for a slightly smaller increase to the tax levy than had originally been projected this year.

CATSKILL — According to the New York State Police in Catskill, Abdon Wilson Juarez Ramirez, 20, of Ravena, drowned Monday afternoon in the Catskill Creek, and an autopsy performed at 9 a.m. Tuesday at St. Peter’s Hospital in Albany determined that the cause of death was accidental.

CATSKILL — The county is about to pony up nearly $100,000 to relocate the Greene County courthouse to its temporary location at the former St. Patrick’s School. That is above and beyond the fees paid to the moving consultant who will oversee the process.

RHINEBECK — A pilot in a Hudson Valley air show died Sunday after crashing during a simulated dogfight. Police, rescue workers and firefighters responded to the crash site near the Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome, an aviation museum and air field, at around 4 p.m. Sunday.
