      Oops, I forgot Puerto Rico has 78 municipalities and 78 mayors. One of 78 gives you a corruption rate of 1.28%. Compare that to Congressmen getting money under the table from "lobbyist" and "campaign supporters", ummm. I would put that at about 98.72%. Yes, Virginia, there are a few honest people in Congress. LOL

      You better not let the Feds read your "U.S. territory" or they'll come after you. "Free Associated State" is the status' "name" (lol). "U.S. territory" is what other countries call Puerto Rico when they say Puerto Rico is a US colony. Which of course, Washington DC says it's not. lol Get your terms right.

      reading this comments i can see how people react ,, people like to compare , we all know that corruption is a world wide problem but the article is about puerto rico ,,you all sound like politicians most of the puerto rican elected officials are corrupt and the people there are too blind to see that and because the red meat there is cheap politics ..

        And free cable, internet, and cell phone, among other goodies, courtesy of Uncle Sam. I favor Aid for Work: Want Aid? Come here... You have to do this for the city, no choices, the dirty jobs no one wants to do. But that is dreaming, as aid has become the politician's ammunition.

      lots of Puerto Rican students out shopping yesterday.... I think it was Pell grant pay day or as its know locally - BECE - it only costs like 1800 to go to UPR but the U.S govt insists on paying these students like 5K..... can you say free laptop
