I am on my 36th government website, and every government website I have read has posted different spending totals for the year 2010. No two government websites are in agreement for these totals. I have only found two facts: 1. the CIA and NSA have declared 13% of the Federal Budget classified, and 2. no one really knows how much are government is actually spending. There are so many departments, sub-departments, sub-sub-departments, and sub-sub-sub-departments that there is literally tax-payer money flying in every conceivable direction, and no one agency or department is accountable.

I have worked all my life but not at one job long enoug to get S.S but to say the least I worked my but off working with nursins helping people whom could not feet themselfes but I would do it again because I LOVED MY JOB.I cant help because I hurt my back and became disabled.I sure hope I dont lose what i;ve worked for,i fel i deserve what little i do make.I HOPE THE PRESIDENT WILL LISTEN TO ALL THAT HAS WORKED AND BECAME DISABLED.MR PRESIDENT YOU WANT MY VOTE [THAN DO THE RIGHT PLEASE]

I can't believe how utterly stupid voters are in this country. Republicans believe only Democrats raided SS. Democrats believe only Republicans raided SS. Wake up people and smell the coffee (not tea). We need to let both parties know it's time to leggo our eggo. read my columns on associatedcontent@fasteddiekc

Tom had replied to my remark. Its curious the AP thinks those of us who get SSDI are draining it faster than it takes in, which is nonsense. Every penny I spend goes to pay someone Else's salary, and they in turn pay into SSA. Here is the rest of my reply to him.

I have filed twice against the same employer, SOS temp agency, from bouncing me from one call center to another without compensation except UI from 2007 to 2009. I worked hard as a computer operator for 13 years and saved enough to run my own company until it petered out. All 50 states are now 'at will' employers, meaning they do not have to give you a reason to fire you, and the States 'Anti-discrimination Bureau' in Utah is a joke. A commissioner on the board was the hearing Judge in my two cases . And prospective Employers look at the way I walk and talk and all but a few ever give me the break to build my own retirement fund.

Your comment was offensive to me that I implicitly draw SSDI because I am too lazy to work. Its a really easy argument to make if you dont know how much govt from both parties raided the fund continuously, non-stop.

I dont think that even fraudulent users of 13 to 14 million payees (if you think all of us are that way) could ever drain the fund so quickly!. My brother, father, grandparents and a cousin all died before even being able to collect social security. While SSA had ask me to name a beneficiary's name and address in case of my death, I have not been a party of nor had received any money from SSA as a beneficiary either.

I know how actuarial tables work, the majority of Americans still pass away before 67, under these conditions, the SSA program should be swimming in dough they never had to pay out. There is some other cause to the matter that the press is not reporting, and I am suggesting that IOU's drawn against the biggest piggy bank in the world ever, is systematically being drained. You might know a few people who get it, but the odds are small that a few benefit looters are the biggest part of the problem.

We have a government and legal system designed to take something simple, and then complicate it to the point that anything can be interpreted out of a law. This is mostly done when there are large sums of money which can be diverted from where it is, to where they want it to go. For example, buying votes by using other peoples savings to be given to those who don't deserve it in order to buy those undeserving peoples' votes in the future. Where did Social Security money go? Now you know.

But now someone will point out how simplified my explanation is. ;) LOL!

As it says, social security disability is reserved for people with substantial work histories. We paid into the fund, it is not welfare. Too many people judge those on disability and think they are just lazy. I worked hard before I became disabled and as I said paid into the system and now when I need it, it is going to be going broke. It is not fair.

Well, when you have unpopular wars going on, where do you think our SS# money is going?
      Thank George W.
      • Gig 9 mths ago
SS money was disappearing long before "W" came into office. Every president since and including FDR has messed with it, under the instructions from their puppet masters. Federal Income Tax and the IRS itself are both unconstitutional but nobody has the money to fight that. Don't get me wrong, I don't like "W" any better than any of the others, but don't fool yourself into limiting the blame to just him.

I am only 25 years old and have had muscle and skeletal problems all my life. Last year I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia, arthritis, insomnia, and some other medical issues. There are days when I cant even get out of the bed even if it was to save my life. It really #$%$ me off because Im used to working and always having money and now I can't and I don't! It really #$%$ me off that I need the disability to survive, and I have paid into it but I get rejected while a drug addict or drunk gets to sit around and have fun while the government supports their habit! People have got to stop judging everybody on S.S. because you dont know everybody's situation. It may be apparent the drug addicts that are abusing the system, but some people really need it to survive and to be put in a category because of that is ridiculous..

to MeMe. I have Fibromyalgia, Arthritis and others medical problems as well
I also only have partial use of my right arm as well and I struggle everyday at work. People suffer with a lot physical problems, you are not disabled so quit playing the sympathy card

Some of us work all our lives, and then one day,a major home accident, leaves one handicapped to point of no work.and no benefits.then.we're without job,no living expenses.and we're not disabled enough.what gives to get what we worked so hard to have in place for just these days ,now iam faced with no income. Goverment wants to keep my own social security from me.it's no good to me,when iam dead.

I have fibromyalgia, severe arthritis, pinched nerves both in my upper and lower back, degenerative disk disease, bulging disks, neuropathy, diabetes II, asthma, carpal tunnel, severe clinical depression (non-bi-polar), anxiety disorders and panic attacks, artificial knees, a need for cataract surgery in both eyes, recent bariatric surgery, IBS, and a host of other things. I used to do both computer programming and high rise window cleaning and I loved my jobs. I would have taken a 50% pay cut to be able to do either one again. And, yeah, I could fairly easily get a job, but I would not be able to keep it for more than a few weeks. So please don't tell me that Social Security Disability (which I paid into my entire working life) is just a welfare program or that I am just lazy or going along for a fee ride. Almost everyone you meet looks down at you if you are on SSDI or other assistance (such as food stamps). I don't like having to be on these programs, but I need them and I earned them by working my backside off for many years.
      • James M 9 mths ago
You obviously sound like you have some issues....and, not to be a jerk....but, if you had bariatric surgery, obviously you were overweight...so, is it possible the bad health was a result of your own choosing? Because you chose to be unhealthy and overweight, is it now the worlds responsibility to support you?

I don't mind helping those that through no fault of their own, have health issues that prevent them from working. But, health issues from being overweight is no better than health issues from being an alcoholic or drug addict.....why do we have to pay for your poor choices?

Sorry to be direct...but, think about it.

I am on SSI & SSD and my wife is on SS I would love to start a business but with what we receive of $1518.20 amonth there is know way I save the money. Even the Social Security has a program called Plan to Achieve Self Support if is approved you can earn as much you want, save as much as you need. I want to start a photography busness it is going to cost me about $15,000 to start it, You still can receive your benafits. It would take me a long time to save that much money. What Social Security should do is give people money so that either wants go back to work or start a business.

I've had Polio since I was a kid, And do you think that Social Sucurity would help me, Hell no. I have worked at jobs but I'm a 100 percent disabled, And I still can't get any help, There are people out in this so called free country that gets social security and SSI that don't deserve it. Like the druggies and the drunks, there to Dam lazy to work, but yet they still get benefits and they lie to get what they want, and us Crippled people have to suffer and get nothing but a hard time,it sucks.
    • W.E.B. Sr  •  9 mths ago
I trully don't think that people should be able to draw Social Security and SSI both at the same time. here is a big loop hole. Also once politicains are no longer in office, their big checks & benefits should stop,. This would save a lot of money

what i see all the time is people that get disability that only made 20k per year when they worked----then they get 1100 a month and full benefits for life at the starting age of 40---there are things these people could do----but it is better for them to just retire at 40 at our expence.
with 1100 a month and healthcare--dental--wic--and all other social service imaginable---a working citizen would have to make 3500 a month for the same thing---tell me did his 20k per year pay enough in to pay for someone that only made 400k in thier lifetime of working----NO----the twenty years he worked he made 400k total ---now we the people will give him 700k in the next 20yrs---he paid into the system maybe 40k---not to mention that the 2 children he does not have custody of also get a check too---its rediculous for citizens to be forced to pay deadbeats for being deadbeats---
