Lotto Other Ways To Win Money: UK Public Try Their Luck On Foreign Lotteries

More and more Britons are avoiding their own lotto game to try their luck on foreign lotteries, it has been reported.

The practice of “lottery tourism” is growing as people in the UK try to win money elsewhere because of the perception that the odds are against them here.

At the beginning of this year, David and Carol Martin from Scotland scooped £33 million in a record UK lotto draw, but there is a feeling among some players that big wins like that are more rare than ever.

Camelot increased the number of balls in its lotto draw to 59 last October and there have been a number of weekly rollovers since as fewer players have matched all six drawn numbers.

No one won last Saturday’s draw, meaning £28.8 million is up for grabs in Wednesday’s jackpot.

It has been reported that many British players are trying their luck elsewhere in lotteries in Belgium and the Netherlands, as well as in Ireland and the U.S.

One player told the Daily Star: “I play in various American state lotteries, depending on prize money. Most are relatively easy to play online.”

However, Camelot said it was confident UK players would stay with their homegrown lotto and said the new format was making more people millionaires.
