'Give Me All Your Luvin': Madonna's 'ego-boosting' new video

Nicki Minaj and M.I.A. join the Queen of Pop for her new football-themed video, strategically released days before her widely hyped Super Bowl performance

The video: In the four years since Madonna released her last album, Hard Candy, the likes of Lady Gaga, Ke$ha, and Katy Perry have all made bids for her throne. But now, the original Queen of Pop is making (another) comeback, releasing "Give Me All Your Luvin," the first single off her upcoming album, MDNA (set for a March 26 release). Both Nicki Minaj and M.I.A. guest on the song and in the video (watch below), as cheerleaders dutifully chanting "L-U-V, Madonna! Y-O-U, you wanna?!" In a bit of canny cross-promotion for Madonna's upcoming Super Bowl halftime show, football players litter the video, flanking the 53-year-old singer as she struts about, bursts through walls, splits a taxi in half, and references at least three of her personas from the past. The clip concludes, modestly, with the scribbled word "Touchdown."

The reaction: "Give Me All Your Luvin" is a "fun, playful ego boost" for the Queen of Pop, says Idolator. To shore up her self-esteem, she subjugates two of music's hottest young stars to serve as "her own personal cheer squad." The mere presence of Nicki Minaj and M.I.A. in a Madonna song is enough to leave me "terrified and confused," says Nicole James at MTV, but "Give Me All Your Luvin" is so "peppy" that I'm instantly won over. This is just the kind of "solid bubble gum pop with a healthy dose of camp and fun" at which Madonna excels, and tying the video in with her upcoming Super Bowl appearance is characteristically savvy. The song and video are certainly bouncy, says Michael Cragg at the U.K.'s Guardian, but Madonna still gives a flat performance. "Given all the love she's demanding, you'd think she'd be more excited." Judge for yourself:

There are far, far worse things than Madonna. Personally, I find it comforting to know that she's still out there doing her thing. A World without Madonna is a world that is stuck with wannabes.

Well, everyone of you a@# holes will no doubt watch her perform despite all the negative comments, She is a true legend and still alive, also paved the way for the lesser talented performers of today. You'll be watching because you can't keep your eyes off of her.

We'll be watching because it's the FREAKING SUPER BOWL and we're waiting for the second half to begin. You think people normally change the channel in the middle of the Super Bowl? Please.

I hear there is an amazing Madonna concert on Sunday, whats all this talk about a football game?

To her credit, she has outlasted all her contemporaries from the 80s and 90s. She's not going anywhere for quite some time. Guaranteed number one to add to her list.

I would rather be exposed to Madonna than having the crotch and butt of some Hip Hoppin Rapper approved by the so-call music critics of the New York Times given prime time during 1/2 time of the Super Bowl.

I'd rather they not try to combine the Super Bowl with a pop music concert. Why do they even do it? It's an idiotic concept that never works. There are better ways to entertain an audience for 30 minutes. Hell, there's no reason to even have a 30 minute halftime. Every other NFL game only has a 10 minute halftime. 30 minutes is just so the TV network can make a gazillion more dollars off the commercials.

I thought Elton John was the Queen of Pop

NO, but you're the Dunce of Stupid Comments. Bigot.
      • CalgarySandy 3 mths ago
Amusing. I don't think Elton would consider "Queen" an insult if delivered by someone who is not a homophobe. He more or less pursues the "Flaming" personality on stage. So did Liberace but he lied about being gay. He is way more entertaining than Madonna of the fake English accent and his music will last forever and by covered by others. Madonna is strictly of her time. Once it is not possible for her to dance, and she really can dance, her music will pass away.

Madonna is a no talent, no account, ugly beatch and has always been! She doesn't write music, can't play an instrument, and barely sings. She got known for wearing a pointy bra, having hairy pits, and simply acting like a street hoe! Too many people don't know talent from fraud!
      • Jerome Gray 3 mths ago
She's written 82 songs, she has played guitar for at least 14 years and she has a great vocal delivery in a plain style even if her vibrato is a but forced and hard to control. She's made the best of what she has and that has made her an ICON! Take it or leave it! And she's always been HOT AS HELL!
      • Tim JH 3 mths ago
Jerome, you're making things up. I guess she's played guitar for 14 years in secret so that nobody else could see her? That just sounds like a lie.

I hate Madonna, but even I know she writes her own songs. Why do you think they suck?

I am familiar with the Beatles song, the ZZ top song is a little more obscure, but thanks guys. Good responses.

Pop cr@p has a limited shelf life and this woman is past her "best by" date. She needs to find something else that does not include her sinewy body raising your gorge. Maybe go into running a dance school or something. She can dance but it is no longer easy to look at.
    • Tim  •  Toledo, Ohio  •  3 mths ago
OMG, she is sooo hot in the video! The song's kinda boring though.

isn't Madonna like 50, should she be singing bubble gum pop? Wow, so many say she has evolved, I just do not see it, I guess I use to be a Madonna fan, now I wonder can she really sing at all, very weak voice and lacks soul or substance and harmony. Now that I am older its shock thearphy that brought her success. Not pure talent. She not a great dancer, nor is she a good vocalist. But I still love the hell out of her early work, Hell, I was young then.
