    Luxury Package Brings Heli-Skiing to the Vacation Villa

    Luxury vacation rental provider Resorts West, in partnership with Wasatch Powderbird Guides, today announced a helicopter ski package that pairs lavish accommodations with a private heli-ski tour, complete with on-site lift-off from select vacation homes.

    The Helicopter Dreams Package starts with seven nights’ lodging at a 6- or 7-bedroom ski home and a private two-hour heli-ski tour for up to eight guests. The heli-ski tour, open to skiers and snowboarders, is customized to the group’s experience and ability. Up to four guests may ride in one helicopter, and up to eight guests may ski or ride together as a group. Groups of eight ski with two expert guides.

    Utah’s backcountry offers some of the world’s most renowned powder skiing thanks to the proximity of the Wasatch Mountains to the Great Salt Lake. Although Powderbird strongly advises that guests are comfortable skiing in powder conditions before heli-skiing, lead guide Mike Olson says that experience in the backcountry or on extreme terrain isn’t always necessary.

    “We take people out on all kinds of terrain,” said Olson, an industry veteran of more than 25 years. “Obviously, the more comfortable guests are in powder, the more enjoyable their experience will be.” Guests should also be comfortable with kick turning, traversing and controlling their speed in a variety of snow conditions.     After a day of first tracks and fresh powder, guests enjoy a gourmet meal provided by Powderbird at the helipad. A 60-minute deep-tissue massage is later performed in the guests’ home by En’ Suite Spa. The Helicopter Dreams Package also includes four days of lift-served skiing or snowboarding at Canyons Resort for eight adults complete with equipment rentals.
