M3 crash shuts motorway northbound at Basingstoke

A crash involving two cars has closed a stretch of the M3 in Hampshire.

Police said the crash on the northbound carriageway near junction 6 for Basingstoke happened shortly after 10:00 BST.

National Highways said traffic was being diverted off the motorway via the slip road onto the A339.

Queues have formed back to the Dummer Interchange at junction 7. The motorway is expected to remain closed into the afternoon.

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary said minor injuries had been reported.
