‘Mad Max: Fury Road’ Trailer: Tom Hardy In High Gear Across The Wasteland

Here is the first full trailer for Mad Max: Fury Road, George Miller’s reboot of his classic postapocalyptic franchise. Tom Hardy stars as “Mad” Max Rockatansky — and gets a bit more screen/voice-over time in this look compared to the previous tastes we’ve gotten from Comic-Con last year and more recently a teaser in December. The Warner Bros and Village Roadshow actioner last week secured an out-of-competition berth at the Cannes Film Festival, where it will screen on May 14.

The 3D Fury Road is set in a world in which gangs clash over scare petrol and water resources. Haunted by his turbulent past, Max believes the best way to survive is to wander alone. But he becomes swept up with a group fleeing across the Wasteland in a War Rig driven by an elite Imperator, Furiosa (Charlize Theron). They are escaping a Citadel tyrannized by Immortan Joe (Hugh Keays-Byrne), from whom something irreplaceable has been taken. Enraged, the Warlord marshals all his gangs and pursues the rebels ruthlessly in the high-octane Road War that follows. Nicholas Hoult, Nathan Jones, Zoë Kravitz, Riley Keough, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Abbey Lee and Courtney Eaton also star.

Miller shares screenplay credit with Brendan McCarthy and Nico Lathouris. Miller is also producing, along with longtime partner Doug Mitchell. P.J. Voeten. Iain Smith, Graham Burke and Bruce Berman are executive producers. The international rollout starts May 13, with the domestic release is set for May 15.
