    Madonna Kills Football Players in New Video; Gary Oldman Does 'Jersey Shore'

    We realize there's only so much time one can spend in a day watching new trailers, viral video clips, and shaky cell phone footage of people arguing on live television. This is why every day The Atlantic Wire highlights the videos that truly earn your five minutes (or less) of attention. Today: Madonna's video doesn't lack for images of football players being murdered, Gary Oldman recaps Jersey Shore and captures our heart, and Michael Bloomberg also has a Super Bowl message.

    What can you say about Gary Oldman doing a dramatic reading of a Jersey Shore recap on Jimmy Kimmel Live? Brilliant concept, flawlessly executed. And yes, it's been done before, but not with Gary Oldman. So it works. America, meet the sturdy character actor you're going to elevate to iconic status this year. [ABC]

    The video for Madonna's new song, "Give Me All Yur Luvin'," has arrived, and we doubt the NFL is going to be thrilled with all the shots of football players being playfully gunned down. We understand the "it's-just-a-silly-music-video" line of reasoning, but it wasn't that long ago the league was mourning the shooting deaths of Washington Redskins safety Sean Taylor and Denver Broncos cornerback Darrent Williams. Having the star of the Super Bowl halftime show star stroll down the street while players in full football uniforms are massacred -- even if it's in a video the league doesn't control -- seems to us like a particularly grotesque PR snafu. If the video dropped three days ago, prior to Super Bowl media day, say, we doubt Madge would still have a gig for Sunday. On a related topic, it's a very nice song for the first two minutes, one of her best in years, until the "Die Another Die"-style atonal clanking begins. [Madonna via the Los Angeles Times]

    Eli Manning and Tom Brady finally have been compared side-by-side in a Taiwanese animated video, which seems like the kind of thing Eli would get a kick out of. As Super Bowl XLVI primers go, it's more succinct and coherent than most, and also has a scene where men in powdered wigs shoot cannonballs at Eli Manning in an art gallery. [NMA TV]

    Michael Bloomberg, with an assist from Boston mayor Tom Menino, is going to be in an anti-gun Super Bowl commercial. It's not as exciting as the Audi spot or the return of Ferris Bueller, unless you're unreasonably excited by thick regional accents and politicians sitting on couches. That being said, we could listen to Menino say "Patriots" all weekend. [YouTube]
