Are we actually having more earthquakes or are we just getting better at reporting them? What do you say news media?

Be jealous! I felt the shaking while I was having lunch and had been rocked to sleep for an afternoon nap and now I am energized and back to my computer. Earthquake is not dangerous as long as you are earthquake-proof. I live in a palm-leaf roofed hut and I just let my condo-dwelling neighbors take the jitters! Ha ha, they are all out in the pavement!

As a young girl living close to Phoenix, Arizona and wandering in the "desert" close to the apartment complex we lived in, finding small SEA SHELLS at the time didn't amaze me.

      It DOES NOW !!

Has anyone thought that we are hearing about the earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, etc. happening more frequently because the world is so much more wired than in the past???
We do not hear about these natural disasters days, weeks or months after they have happened...we hear about them within hours.

This quake was 362 miles deep. In other words it would be like San Francisco having a 6.3 and L.A. the closest human population base. No one in L.A. would have felt this or knew it took place. This quake was not caused by oil drilling or any other man made activity.

Actually, an average of about 100 large earthquakes happen globally every year but the news only report on a very few, so alot of earthquakes are normal specially if you live near an active fault.
