Maid of the Mist tours of Niagara Falls resuming

NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. (AP) — The Maid of the Mist boat tours, a Niagara Falls tourist attraction for more than 150 years, are set to resume.

The company plans to launch its boats from the U.S. and Canadian side of the Niagara River at 10 a.m. Friday. The launch is a week later than last year, but it's another early start for the season because of favorable ice conditions on Lake Erie.

The Maid of the Mist boats have been giving tourists an up-close view of Niagara Falls since 1846.

This will be the last year for Maid of the Mist cruises leaving from the Canadian side of the Falls. The Niagara Parks Commission awarded the Canadian boat tour contract to Hornblower Canada beginning in 2014. The Maid of the Mist still holds the New York-side contract.
