    Maine gas prices down slightly

AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) — Maine residents are getting some minor relief at the pump, with the average retail cost of a gallon of gas down more than a penny.

Price-monitoring website MaineGasPrices.com reports Monday that the average is down to $3.61 per gallon.

Even though the national average is up slightly, prices in Maine are still 11 cents above the national average.

Prices in Maine are now more than 20 cents lower than at the same time last year.

The national average has increased 12 cents per gallon during the last month and is 20 cents per gallon lower than a year ago.

A company analyst says higher prices are on the way.
