Maine heating oil prices down

Heating oil prices in Maine are down as spring gets a grip

AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) -- A government survey says the average price of Maine heating oil has dropped 3 cents to $3.64 per gallon.

In its weekly survey, the Governor's Energy Office said Wednesday the average statewide price for a gallon of heating oil has fallen 25 cents since peaking in February.

The survey taken Monday found a range of $3.35 to $4.09.

The survey also found that the average price of kerosene dropped 3 cents to $4.11 per gallon. The average propane price is now $3.23, a drop of 4 cents per gallon.

The Energy Office says fuel prices drop as the heating season tapers off and demand decreases.
