Man, 86, killed in boat fire near Brooklyn Bridge Park

An 86-year-old man died in a boat fire at the Brooklyn Bridge Park marina early Saturday, police said.

FDNY fire boats were called to put out the blaze on the 52-foot Jefferson recreational craft near Pier 5 in Downtown Brooklyn around 6:15 a.m., cops said.

The elderly man was unconscious inside the burning boat and taken to Kings County Hospital, but he could not be saved.

The city medical examiner will determine his exact cause of death.

The massive fire turned the boat into a melted, mangled mass of plastic and fiberglass.

FDNY fire marshals were investigating what sparked the fire Saturday.
