KCTV reports Dane Greathouse has been arrested and charged with assaulting another man Feb. 18. Greathouse had a previous run-in with the law on Oct. 4 in connection with the Lisa Irwin case. Nearly five months have passed since baby Lisa disappeared from her north Kansas City, Mo., home. Greathouse was taken into custody on an unrelated matter.
Here's how Greathouse is connected with the Lisa Irwin disappearance.
Cellphone
Greathouse was questioned the morning of Oct. 4 after authorities interviewed several witnesses. Investigators wanted to know if the man had access to a cellphone owned by Megan Wright. Wright's cellphone received a call at 11:57 p.m. Oct. 3 by a cellphone reportedly owned by Lisa's mother Deborah Bradley.
Greathouse denied any involvement in the missing person case. Lisa's parents allege she was snatched sometime in the overnight hours of Oct 3 into Oct. 4. The couple's three cellphones were allegedly stolen the night Lisa disappeared from her crib. The 1-year-old hasn't been seen since.
Fox4KC.com states a private investigator believes Greathouse had nothing to do with the case. Ron Rugen told the TV station Greathouse did use the phone that night, but the alleged phone call at 11:57 p.m. never went through. Rugen also said Greathouse offered to talk to him about the baby Lisa case for $100,000 and a tank full of gas every day for life.
Wright still maintains a Facebook page regarding "Megan Wright Q&A Baby Lisa." The most recent post states that "Dane was cleared of his involvement." That post was made the evening of Feb. 19.
Stabbing
Fast forward nearly five months. Greathouse, whose nickname is "Diggler," allegedly stabbed 31-year-old Greg Robinson May in the early morning hours Feb. 18 at the Vienna Square apartments at 64th and North Oak Trafficway in Kansas City. Around 5:30 a.m., KMBC states May was assaulted with a knife. The victim underwent lifesaving surgery to repair his intestines that had been cut by the knife.
Greathouse has been charged with first-degree assault and armed criminal action. Bond has been set at $175,000. Police arrested the alleged perpetrator at 7 a.m. Greathouse alleged he was acting in self-defense and didn't call police for fear of a probation violation, according to the police report. Greathouse faces years in jail for his crimes if convicted. He remains in Clay County jail.
