Man charged with sexually assaulting subordinate at Inland Empire army base

A man from Minnesota has been charged with the sexual abuse of his subordinate at the United States Army Fort Irwin National Training Center in San Bernardino County.

Kelly Boylan, 54, faces one count each of sexual abuse without consent and abusive sexual contact, according to a release from the U.S. Department of Justice.

Prosecutors say that in July 2020, Boylan sexually assaulted his female subordinate “with the intent to abuse, humiliate, harass, and degrade her, and to arouse and gratify Boylan’s sexual desire.”

Boylan has pleaded not guilty. His trial is scheduled to begin July 8, and if convicted, he faces a maximum sentence of life in federal prison.
