Manitoba bars can stay open 1 hour later for Saturday's Jets game

Ellerslie Legion liquor licence suspended for 4 days

Manitoba's bars can stay open one hour later than usual on Saturday night so Winnipeg Jets fans can enjoy the team's second playoff game against the Anaheim Ducks.

The Liquor and Gaming Authority of Manitoba says since the Jets-Ducks game will start late — at 9:30 p.m. CT — it is extending hours for one night only.

That means all licensed establishments across the province will be allowed to serve alcohol until 3 a.m. Sunday, and bars will be allowed to remain open until 4 a.m.

A spokesperson says the extension applies to Saturday night's game only, and the Liquor and Gaming Authority of Manitoba will review future extension requests as they come in.

The authority added that it will work with law enforcement and all establishments to ensure a safe experience for everyone.
