Marathi film TAPAAL wins two prestigious state awards

"Today the journey of Ranga that started from a shadow prank has reached the state award," was the reaction of TAPAAL director, Laxman Utekar after Rohit Utekar was adjourned as best child actor in a grand ceremony of Maharashtra state film awards function yesterday. TAPAAL, the debut movie of Maitreya Mass Media, has won two prestigious awards at the event. Renowned lyricist and poet Mr. Prakash Holkar got the best lyricist award for his emotional composition "don disanchi sawali " at the hands of veteran actor Dilip Prabhawalkar. Rohit Utekar was felicitated by renowned actor Arun Nalawade. This complete event was graced by State Cultural Minister Mr. Sanjay Devtale and State Rural Development Minister Mr. Jayant Patil.

After the event, director Laxman Utekar reflected upon the "Shadow to Idol (Sawali te Bahuli)" journey of Rohit and narrated the memorable incident during the audition time. When TAPAAL team was at Rohit's school for audition of child artists, all the aspiring children were practicing hard to get in. One by one the children were brought on the audition spot. Laxman found that there was some shadow on the faces of the children at the audition spot. To know the source, he turned back and saw a young boy had climbed a flag post and was casting shadow on the faces of these kids. Laxman called him down and put him into audition. In front of the camera, this young boy started posing for shoot effortlessly. To tease him, Laxman asked the boy, "Do you love any girl?" "Yes" was the quick response of the kid and he also added that he wrote 'I Love You' on rice roti and gave it to her as a love letter! This kid was Rohit Utekar and in him Laxman got his Rangya!

Rohit was trained for acting, dialogues etc. and he crossed all the milestones successfully. Due to the sheer efforts put in by Rohit, his journey that started from shadow prank has reached to this prestigious award. These awards given by Maharashtra State are very prestigious in film industry and hence TAPAAL bagging two awards is very important to the complete team.

Renowned composer and poet Prakash Holkar reflected that after listening to the TAPAAL story from Mangesh Hadawle, he decided to write songs for the movie. He added that he was extremely happy after knowing that Laxman was going to direct TAPAAL as his first movie and renowned personalities like Nandu Madhav and Veena Jamkar were part of the team. He expressed his thanks to Maitreya Mass Media for placing the trust on him and the complete TAPAAL team.

Before these awards, TAPAAL movie has been recognized in nine international film festivals. The film was selected in Indian Panorama division of IFFI (International Film Festival of India). The movie was also selected in Third Eye Asian Film Festival in Mumbai as well as Pune International Film Festival. Veena Jamkar received prestigious IFFSA award in South Africa for her role of 'Tulsa' in TAPAAL. Now with these two awards at Maharashtra State film Awards, TAPAAL has continued its award streak.
