Marathon Oil Chief Operating Officer Roberts resigns to pursue other opportunity

NEW YORK (AP) -- Marathon Oil Corp. said Monday that executive vice president and chief operating officer David E. Roberts, Jr. has resigned.

Roberts joined the company in 2006. He's also on the board on Flowserve Corp., which makes flow-control products for the oil and gas industries.

Houston-based Marathon said Roberts is leaving "to pursue other interests." His last day is Friday.

Marathon shares fell 69 cents, or 2.2 percent, to $30.23 in morning trading.
