Marvel Television Is Venturing Into New Territory with Half-Hour Comedy Based on 'Damage Control' Comic
After seeing Jessica Jones victoriously strut away from a drunken bar fight with Joan Jett’s “Bad Reputation” blaring in the background and hearing Marvel President Kevin Feige endorse Ronda Rousey’s campaign for Captain Marvel, you could say Marvel fans are having one hell of a week. Now, the major entertainment company is expanding its universe with a half-hour comedy executive produced by Daily Show alum Ben Karlin, Brooklyn Nine-Nine’s David Miner and Marvel's head of television, Jeph Loeb.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, ABC has ordered a script for a single-camera series based on the comic Damage Control, which debuted in 1989. The story follows the unsung heroes tasked with cleaning up the catastrophic messes left by well-intentioned caped crusaders. Hijinks are sure to ensue when the overworked and underpaid workers deal with tricky situations like returning lost ray guns to their rightful owners or helping a bride find a new wedding venue after her previous one was destroyed in an epic battle.
Like Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.LD. and Agent Carter before it, the show will be produced by both ABC Studios and Marvel Television.
