Mauritius revises 2015 growth forecast to 3.8 pct
PORT LOUIS (Reuters) - Mauritius has lowered its growth forecast for 2015 to 3.8 percent from its previous estimate of 4.1 percent, Statistics Mauritius said on Tuesday. "Based on information gathered on key sectors of the economy, the growth of GDP/GVA (gross domestic product/gross value added) at basic prices is revised downward to 3.8 percent from 4.1 percent as forecasted in March 2015," Statistics Mauritius said in a statement. The Indian Ocean island, which markets itself as a bridge between Africa and Asia, is trying to shift an economy mostly focused on sugar, textiles and tourism towards offshore banking, business outsourcing, luxury real estate and medical tourism.
